Comments from the Curator:
All theatrical costumes are highly sought after today. The value and demand of a costume greatly increases if the costume is attributed to a particular movie/T.V. production or actor/actress. This Mexican Army Dragoon Cavalry Regiment soldier's costume is one of several auctioned off in 2000 by the famous "Western Costume Company", of California, well known for producing Hollywood costumes for a great many years. It is one of two in the AAF Tank Museum's collection. Provenance is provided by a copy of the "Certificate of Authenticity" obtained with the uniforms from Western Costume Company. According to Western Costume Company, these costumes were originally produced for, and worn in the 1960
John Wayne
movie
"The Alamo".
Later on, it is believed that some were possibly worn in the T.V. series
"Zorro"
